V-Windows with Sonar (editted for clarity)

V-Windows with Sonar (editted for clarity)

Postby Funkpump » Wed Apr 11, 2012 12:23 am

I have just about everything running fine controlling Sonar X1d on Win 7 x64.

Just a couple problems-

In V-Window mode, Sonar is not a selectable application. The list just has Desktop and explorer.

As a result, I can move the mouse cursor around the screen, but never click the button down or affect anything in the plugin window. Is there something I'm missing?

Also, what does the EDIT button do on the right hand side?

Thanks..

Hi Sounds like you are running Sonar as administrator- in which case you need to run Ney-Fi as administrator- there is a new version of Ne-Fi which runs as administrator by default: http://www.neyrinck.com/download/Ney-Fi%20Setup_1.5.1.7.zip

If you want to get rid of the UAC prompt because you are ruuning things as administrator see: http://www.sevenforums.com/system-security/22411-how-do-i-avoid-disabling-uac.html

The Edit button is a standard Mackie Control feature and allows you to toggle through plugins for example.

Can you do me a favour and see if when you enter the edit panel through the multi panel button that sonar crashes when you try and use the scrub/shuttle in scrub mode? Then I'll drop the support guys a line- they are more likely to look into it if several people are exepriencing the same problem (obviosuly make sure you save your project first!).

Cheers

Interesting. I am running Sonar as admin because jBridge requires it, so I'll try that and see.

I've already used Scrub and it worked fine. I haven't had anything crash Sonar yet, just some things didn't work/seem to do anything.

Thanks!

I'll reply when I can try it to confirm.

That worked! Thanks!

And I tried Scrub mode again to be sure and it did work without a hitch.

I really appreciate your attention to my issue, and if I can help you troubleshoot or provide any information about my setup, let me know and I'd be glad to.

No problem- glad to help :-)

So are you hitting the scrub button before swiping in the scrub/shuttle area? The default shuttle works fine it's the scrub that causes Sonar to crash- sorry to be pedantic!

Yes. I hit the button marked SCRUB. It lights up. Then I swipe my finger back and forth on the bar and the music plays forwards and backwards. I'm assuming this makes your Sonar crash? Have you tried doing scrub manually from within Sonar to see if the fault lies in the Control Surface or the program itself? Maybe it's too complex a project for your machine? Did you try doing it in a new project? Just a couple thoughts off the top of my head.

I am definitely able to Scrub with no ill effects.

Hey FP

Good point- just tried it on a project with just a handful of pure audio tracks with a couple of Fx and it worked a treat.

Re-opened my original project- quite a few VSTs and Fx and it didn't crash this time but no sund during scrubbing- better than a crash though! Anyway this feature isn't a biggie just wanted make sure that V-Control wasn't introducing any stability issues.

Thanks for your help!

Cheers
