Andriod

Another +1 for Android here

My MCU is sadly on its way out with an intermittant power issue that is not economically viable to restore. So I have been doing lots of research on Tablet based controllers as they seem the way forward and will hopefully not end up obsolete quite so quickly given the frequency of updates and the nature of app martketplaces.

So far in my travels in both android and apple land your app blows everything out the water. It is possibly the only reason that I will buy an Ipad, however that is a depressing reason to buy hardware, I would like very much to be able to buy an Android tablet and run your software on it.

I will not be purchasing anything until the mackie finally dies, because i figure that the longer i can wait the cheaper i can pick up an ipad 2 or a good speced Android like the galaxy etc.

So please develop this for android, becuase I would buy it in a heartbeat and it would make my tablet buying experience something that involved a choice.

Porting to Android is a ways off. The iPad is the way to go now. We are close to releasing some new DAW modes and support for the retina display.

Thanks for your fast response. I had a horrible feeling you were going to say that.

Just for reference I currently run Protools and Studio One as my main DAW's so you have me covered already.

Appreciate android is a long way off, but still consider it a +1 from me on that front, even if I have to buy an iPad it would be nice to know that the option still exists.

Another little thought slash feature request. It would be great if you could do a very cut down version for phones or ipod touch.

Ie you could have your ipad out in the studio but be able to give a old phone/ipod touch to a musician in the booth so that they could have control over there monitor mix etc either via software ala protools, or via whatever software mixer they have ie Cuemix or that MIO interface you have in your videos. Given that it would be great to have the ability to lock and/or configure the functionality they have, Ie they can playback and change levels, but not hit record etc.

Just a thought on a good next step for the software it would also potentially bring you a fresh market or encourage multiple sales to a single customer that has more than one device. Also, and I am making no secret of my agenda, this would probably be an even better thing to port to android, as there are probably more people with android phones than tablets.

I hope my comments are taken as meant, constructive and supportive, becuase I really think your ap is the best control app I have seen so far. A nuance I have just realized from reading the presonus forum and realizing that the v-control window allows you to bypass all of Presonus failings in control protocols by simply floating the mixer window and accessing it in its entirety via v-control is quite frankly mouth watering. Its really a completely different paradigm to how the other controller apps work, its more like turning the iPad into a touch sensitive VNC style remote. Very clever.

I am extremely sad to hear this. I think the Android market is larger than many think. Android users will have to look elsewhere for what they want and probably won't switch when/if you decide to port it. So, I am off to look for another solution. Thanks anyway.

Just to add to what Bramwell says, I found this article which very much surprised me in that it seems that the app market is experiencing a paradigm shift.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/ap ... pers-sales

Althought the music/production market is probably different to the general market I grant you.

However I will state again that for everythign else I want to use a phone or tablet for, android is better and more integrated into my life than Apple, so it is immensely frustrating that I am in a position of having to potentially buy an iPad purely for musical use.

There are a lot of musicsians and producre like me, who are struggling to justify the cost of a tablet just for musical use, but would have no problems justifying the cost of your app if it ran on a device they already owned.

So I personally think you're missing out on a market. I am moving away from giving in on the iPad, and will probably utilize TouchDAW instead on Android. Its not as fully featured as your app, but at least it means i am not forced into buying Apple.

Good luck to you in the future and I hope to see your app turn up in the Play store :)

Hopefully you all will consider porting to android. Android is a huge market and growing. I have been following your software from day 1. And looks the best so far. I am disappointed that it is not available for droid I have tried touch daw but it is not intuitive and I have ceased from using it. I have a Mac, PC, droid phones, droid tablets. The only reason I would get an ipad is to use this software. Please update if any changes on doing a droid platform.

Ha, too bad about it being ways off. I just won a galaxy tab 10.1 (currently in the mail) and was hoping that I would be able to use it to control PT when I'm not at the console. Would prefer an asus transformer but eh, I got the galaxy free! lol. Anyhow, the soonest you can port this the soonest you'll get my money, and well not just mine, a lot of people's money.
