Run V-Control on Two iPads Simultaneously?

Postby tomoe97 » Tue Feb 28, 2012 10:35 pm

Is it possible to run V-Control on two different iPads simultaneously? I would like to control a different application on each iPad without having to switch between apps. I am able to run V-Control on both iPads, but as soon as I set up the second, the first seems to lose its live connection. How does one set it up so that each V-Control maintains its connection to the computer? Or is Ney-Fi not able to handle two V-Controls at once?

Just one V-Control can be used at a time for a single computer at this time. But we are looking to add some capabilities. Most people want to control the same DAW app with two or more V-Controls but it sounds like you are thinking of something different. Can you explain in more detail exactly what you want to do?

For example, when running Reason together with Ableton Live in Rewire mode, it would be very useful to have one iPad focused on Reason while the other focuses on Live. Adding this capability to V-Control would open up a lot of possibilities.

i am also VERY interested in this. Other people have tried to do this, but it just works badly. I know that if anybody can do it correctly, it would be Neyrinck.

Bumping this thread...

Has there been any support advances lately for this topic? I am leaning heavily on using 2-3 Ipads as my controller for Pro Tools. It would be nice to have them spread out with 16-24 faders readily available, plus I have a large space to fill :-)

I am very excited to hear you chaps are looking at enabling multiple iPads to be used on one DAW.
Allowing us to have 8 faders per iPad and a other useful combinations will be a killer function.
I have just sold my old Control surface and if you chaps make this an option I wont be looking anywhere else for my Protools control.

Do you have any timeline at this stage when this could be an option for us ?

Hi there everyone. Just writing to say that there is no specific timeline yet for using V-Control with multiple iOS devices at once.

However, this is one of our more requested features and as work is done on future updates, Paul is always evaluating what can be done to make this happen.

Thanks!
